Americans Have to Wear Mouth Masks in Public Transport

The United States mandates the wearing of face masks in almost all modes of public transportation. Travellers on planes, trains, ferries, subways and taxis must cover their nose and mouth from Monday.

The new guideline from the CDC health service also applies to people in bus and train stations, airports and ferry terminals, among others.

According to American media, the CDC had already prepared such a masking obligation last year, but then President Donald Trump’s administration was obstructive.

His successor Joe Biden changed course immediately after taking office. After taking office, the Democrat ordered in a presidential order to “take immediate action” to make face masks mandatory on public transportation.

The new rules state that transport companies must make every effort to ensure that the rules are complied with. Anyone who refuses to wear a mouth mask must be evicted from the vehicle. There are exceptions for travellers with some medical issues and children under 2 years old.

Mouth masks may also sometimes be taken off briefly, such as drinking something, swallowing the medication or for a security check.
