British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has arrived in Brussels for an ultimate meeting with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
The two leaders must consider whether the post-Brexit trade agreement can still be saved. Will they be able to put water in the wine and move in each other’s direction?
Johnson and Von der Leyen will have dinner in Brussels tonight around six o’clock.
The talk is seen as the last chance to get the talks about a trade agreement going. Weeks of intensive negotiations have yielded nothing.
Time is running out to grasp an agreement before December 31, when the UK no longer follows EU trade rules.
The biggest bottlenecks remain fishing rights, competition rules for companies and agreements on how compliance with the deal will be monitored.
