British stores will be open again from 15 June. Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced this at a press conference on Monday.
Almost all stores have been closed for weeks as a measure against the coronavirus.
From 1 June, open-air markets and car dealer showrooms will also be open again.
All easings are conditional on people adhering to social distance rules, Johnson said.
In the UK, 121 people with the coronavirus have died in the past 24 hours. The registered death toll is now at 36,914.
