Chip Manufacturers Suspend Deliveries to Russia

Several chip companies have stopped supplying Russia because of the imposition of Western sanctions. This includes AMD and Intel. TSMC also reports that it will comply with the sanctions.

The Association of Russian Developers and Electronics Manufacturers (ARPE) reported this to various Russian media. Intel confirms the step towards Tom’s Hardware, among others. The US tech company reports that it complies with all export restrictions and sanctions in countries where it operates.

It is not clear how far the trade freeze will go. The new export restrictions are mainly aimed at chips for military purposes and chips that can be used for both civilian and military purposes.

The sanctions do not apply to consumer chips. However, companies may decide to temporarily suspend the supply of all chips in order to properly map out which products they can and cannot supply.
