Employees Without A Vital Job Must Stay at Home in Spain

People who are not in vital jobs in Spain should stay at home for the next two weeks. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez announced that measure on Saturday in the fight against the coronavirus.

The measure applies from Monday. The workers keep their salary and have to make up for the lost hours step by step, says Sánchez.

In his TV speech, he did not mention which sectors the measure is for.

Despite the restrictions, workers have been allowed to go to work since the state of emergency was announced on March 15.

At the same time, the population was called upon to work from home as much as possible.

In Spain, 5,690 people have died from the effects of the virus and 72,248 people have been diagnosed with the virus. Spain is, therefore, one of the hardest-hit countries in the world.
