The number of coronavirus deaths in Italy increased by 179 on Monday, from 165 the day before, authorities said.
The daily number of new infections dropped to 744 compared to 802 on Sunday. It was the lowest number of new corona cases in a day since March 4.
The total death toll since the outbreak on February 21 was revealed is now at 30,739, the third-highest in the world after that of the United States and Great Britain.
The total number of confirmed infections is 219,814, the fifth-highest worldwide number after that of the United States, Spain, Great Britain and Russia.
The number of registered people who now have the disease dropped to 82,488 from 83,324 the day before.
In Italy, 999 people are still in intensive care, there were 1072 on Sunday. Of those originally infected, 106,587 were declared recovered, against 105,186 a day earlier.
