First Day Without Corona Deaths in the UK Since the Start of the Pandemic

For the first time since the start of the corona pandemic, the United Kingdom has had a day without corona-related deaths. One more death was reported Monday.

On Tuesday, the counter was at zero, but 3165 new infections were detected.

Since the start of the pandemic in March last year, more than 128,000 people have died from corona in the United Kingdom, where the virus has made a relatively large number of victims. July 30 was a day with zero deaths, but that was 20 a day later, British media report.

In addition, the government then used a different definition, and there were deaths from Covid-19 on July 30, according to the BBC. The last time before that, there were no corona deaths on March 7, 2020.

The country has been very energetic in its vaccination campaign. Since December, nearly 40 million Britons (nearly 80 percent of adults) have had their first shot, and 25 million have had a second.

Nevertheless, there are still concerns, as the Indian virus variant causes many infections. Experts have called for a postponement of the next easing of the corona measures scheduled for June 21.
