Prince Harry and his wife Meghan have paid for the Frogmore Cottage conversion out of their own pocket. A spokesman for the couple confirmed this to British media on Monday.
It concerns a sum of 2.4 million pounds that the government had invested in the renovation of their accommodation on the Windsor estate.
“The contribution, offered by Prince Harry, will cover the full cost of renovation of Frogmore Cottage, a property of Her Majesty the Queen.
It will remain the British home of the Duke and his family,” said the spokesman.
In January, Buckingham Palace reported that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would repay the amount.
That agreement was part of the agreement the couple made with the British royal family after the two announced that they would be taking a step back within the royal family.
Harry and Meghan have been living in Los Angeles for several months now.
