A Kuwaiti medium this week came up with a virtual TV presenter generated by artificial intelligence. The intention is to have Fedha, as the AI presenter is called, present a news program in the Gulf state.
Fedha appeared on the Twitter account of the news site Kuwait News on Saturday, wearing a white t-shirt with a black cardigan, as part of a project still in the testing phase. “I am Fedha, the first female news anchor in Kuwait to work with artificial intelligence.
What kind of news do you prefer? Have your say,” it sounded in Arabic, in a thirteen-second clip.
The site, affiliated with the Kuwait Times, is testing the potential of artificial intelligence to provide “new and innovative content,” deputy editor Abdullah Boftain noted. He said that in the future, the presenter might adopt a Kuwaiti accent and present a news bulletin on Kuwait News’ Twitter account, which has more than 1.2 million followers.
