More Chance of Breakthrough Infection Who Vaccinated with Janssen Vaccine

Fully vaccinated people who still contract the coronavirus have been vaccinated in a striking number of cases with the vaccine from producer Janssen. The causes are currently unknown, although the profile of those who opted for the Janssen vaccine is mainly being looked at.

A so-called breakthrough infection, in which a fully vaccinated person still becomes infected with the coronavirus, can never be completely ruled out. But now, figures from Sciensano show that there are differences between the different vaccine manufacturers.

For the Moderna vaccine, that figure is 15, but in the case of the Janssen vaccine (Johnson & Johnson), it rises to 56 cases per 100,000 injections.

However, an entirely correct comparison between the different vaccines is impossible. This is because they were given to different population groups and at different times during the vaccination campaign.

For example, especially young people and the elderly were given Pfizer, and the minimum age for the AstraZeneca vaccine was 41 years. Yet, it remains remarkable that so many more breakthrough infections are detected with the Janssen vaccine.

It is not clear at the moment what this could be. However, one of the possible causes is the profile of those who received the Janssen vaccine, of which only one dose was administered.
