Nvidia Higher on Wall Street After Speech by CEO at Tech Fair CES

AI chip company Nvidia was among the winners at Tuesday’s trading opening in New York.

Investors on Wall Street processed a speech by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang at the major CES tech fair in Las Vegas, where he announced a series of new artificial intelligence products.

Nvidia shares rose 1.7 percent in early trading. Huang said new graphics cards for playing games will be released with AI technology. He also announced collaborations with Toyota and Uber in the field of AI. Nvidia is the most essential player in the market for chips for AI applications and wants to strengthen its position with these new products.

On Monday, Nvidia shares already rose to a new record level. Other chip companies such as Broadcom, Qualcomm, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Micron Technology also rose, mainly thanks to strong sales figures from Taiwanese Foxconn.

The Dow Jones index was up 0.4 percent shortly after the start at 42,870 points. The broad S&P 500 rose 0.4 percent to 5997 points, and the technology benchmark Nasdaq climbed 0.3 percent to 19,920 points. On Monday, there were mainly pluses, with a gain of 1.2 percent for the Nasdaq.
