President Biden Allows Release of Trump Era Documents for Capitol Storming Investigation

U.S. President Joe Biden has again agreed to release documents from the reign of his predecessor Donald Trump in aid of the Congressional investigation into the January 6, 2021 storming of the Capitol.

In a letter made public by the German news agency DPA, which went public on Wednesday, the White House ordered the National Archives to provide documents requested by the House Committee of Inquiry. Specifically, these are logs of visitors to the White House on January 6, when Trump was still in office.

Biden again and expressly rejected Trump’s claim to executive privilege in his writing. This concerns the prerogative of presidents to keep particular information secret. The current White House resident has determined that exercising this privilege, in this case, is not in the best interest of the United States. Because of the requested documents, it is not justified to exercise this, allegedly.

Trump has long sought to block the disclosure of documents to the commission of inquiry by invoking his “executive privilege.” But he got zero on the appeal to the judiciary. Biden already authorized the handing over of other documents from the National Archives to the Commission of Inquiry last year

Trump supporters stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021, after a speech by the president as Congress ratified the results of the 2020 presidential election. Five people were killed in the violence. Trump subsequently escaped impeachment from office. The Congressional committee is now trying to clarify the background to the storming.
