Russian Minister Lavrov Denies US Allegations Over Staged Ukrainian Attacks Against Russia

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov denies that the Russians would stage Ukrainian attacks in videos to invade Ukraine. The United States had claimed that yesterday. However, the Ukrainian foreign minister says he is not surprised by the news.

“Russia is plotting staged Ukrainian attacks as a pretext to invade the country”. That’s what it sounded like yesterday from the United States. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov reacted briefly, saying ” nonsense ” claims.

According to the Americans, the Russians have fake videos with compelling images as ‘proof’ of Ukrainian attacks in the east of the country or in Russia itself. However, the Americans do not want to say how they came up with the story and there is no proof either.

The American newspapers The New York Times and The Washington Post, which came up with the story, indicate that they have the story from an anonymous but reliable source in the American intelligence services.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitro Kuleba says he is not surprised. “Since 2014 (when Crimea was annexed by Russia, ed.) We have seen this kind of action by Russia. We have seen that nothing prevents them from faking things and accusing Ukraine of something again,” it sounds.

It is not clear what has become of the allegations. It follows in line with previous reports from US intelligence services that Russia has plans to destabilize Ukraine.

The American video platform Youtube has shut down some channels of fighting pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine. Each time, a message appears that says “this account has been closed for not following the rules of the YouTube community”. The Information Center of the People’s Republic of Lugansk, the official news site of the self-proclaimed Lugansk area, said on its website that its channel was closed “without explanation”.
