German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has expressed his disgust at comments by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas that would put the Holocaust into perspective.
In a tweet, the head of government says he is very outraged by the “impossible” statements made by Abbas on Tuesday during his visit to Berlin.
“Especially for us Germans, any relativization of the Holocaust is unbearable and unacceptable,” Scholz said on Wednesday. Abbas was asked during a press conference to apologize for the Palestinian attack on the Israeli sports team exactly fifty years ago during the Olympic Games in Munich.
The Palestinian president responded by accusing Israel of having committed “fifty massacres, fifty holocausts” against Palestinians since 1947.
