The family of the murdered Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi forgive the murderers. One of Khashoggi’s sons announced this.
The journalist for the Washington Post was murdered in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey, in 2018.
Five men who worked for the Saudi government were sentenced to death at the end of last year for the murder. Thanks to their forgiveness, they most likely avoid execution.
The message of forgiveness comes from one of the journalist’s sons, Salah Khashoggi. He lives in Saudi Arabia and previously received financial compensation from the royal family.
On Twitter, he writes that the gesture fits in the holy month of Ramadan: “On this blessed evening of the blessed month of Ramadan we remember the saying of God: if one forgives and reconciles, he will be rewarded by Allah.
Therefore, announce we, the sons of martyr Jamal Khashoggi, forgive our father’s murderers. “
