The Former Head of Trump’s Vaccination Campaign Moncef Slaoui Fired

Moncef Slaoui, the man who led the US vaccination campaign under President Trump, has been fired from drug company GlaxoSmithKline after reporting sexual harassment and inappropriate behaviour.

Slaoui was born in Morocco, but studied, worked and lived in our country for more than thirty years.

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has fired Moncef Slaoui with immediate effect from his position as chairman of Galvani Bioelectronics, a biotech company of which the British pharmaceutical company GSK is the majority shareholder. An internal investigation is ongoing after an employee reported sexually transgressive behaviour several years ago.

In a statement, GSK writes that immediately after the letter, it approached a law firm, which confirmed the complaint after investigation. The company describes Slaoui’s behaviour as “completely unacceptable” and says he has abused his dominant position.

Moncef Slaoui became internationally known when US President Donald Trump appointed him to lead “Operation Warp Speed” as a scientist. With the campaign last year, the US government wanted to produce, select and distribute COVID-19 vaccines in the US. Slaoui stepped down in that position in January.
