UPS Continues to Grow Thanks to Corona Shopping Via the Internet

Parcel delivery company UPS continues to benefit significantly from much more online shopping since the coronavirus outbreak. In addition, due to lockdowns, shops sometimes remained closed in the past quarter, causing webshops to sell more.

As a result, demand for UPS’s parcel services continued to increase, as did profits.

The American company delivered an average of 24.2 million parcels worldwide in the second quarter. There were 21.1 million a year earlier.

Revenue in the second quarter rose 15 percent to $23.4 billion compared to the same period last year. In that quarter in 2020, turnover had already increased by 13 percent, partly due to the pandemic. In Europe, UPS revenue grew 30 percent in the quarter.

Operating profit, earnings before taxes and interest payments, was $3.3 billion. That is an increase of 47 percent compared to the second quarter of last year.
