One of the leaders of a far-right militia involved in the Capitol storming had been “awaiting directions from President Trump” in the preceding days.
Jessica Watson of the Oath Keepers militia has said this to the court, according to a reporter from CNN.
The statement could be important in the impeachment process against Trump. Democratic prosecutors will continue to provide evidence later Thursday to show that Trump has incited his supporters to revolt. They believe Trump should be punished for his role in the attack.
Watson claims to be the leader of the Oath Keepers in the state of Ohio. The US prosecutor accuses her and two other members of that paramilitary group of conspiracy in the violent attack on the Washington parliament building on January 6.
Justice previously stated that the three had sent messages among themselves to show that they had extensively planned and prepared the attack.
