Work Pressure Amazon Forces Drivers to Urinate in Bottles and Mail Bags

While Amazon firmly denies the practice exists, there is evidence that the company’s drivers are forced to relieve themselves in bottles and mailbags along the way.

The claim that Amazon drivers, often subcontractors, are being imposed such strict quotas that they make mistakes or don’t have time to go to the toilet has been circulating for some time.

Amazon consistently denies that. Yesterday the company tweeted an American politician, “You don’t believe that urinating in bottles is real, do you?”

But emails from Amazon to subcontractors show that the practice does exist and is known at Amazon.

The Intercept was able to obtain a January document identifying urination or defecation in public as a violation, as well as leaving parcels or arriving at the customer without permission.
