Meta Plans to Invest up to $65 Billion in AI This Year

CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced that Meta, the parent company of Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, plans to invest up to $65 billion in artificial intelligence projects this year.

The money will be used for extensive new data collection, among other things. In a Facebook post, Zuckerberg spoke of a massive effort to expand American technological leadership.

Meta has recently invested heavily in artificial intelligence, buying new chips to power products like its AI assistant and smart Ray-Ban glasses. Zuckerberg said Meta will significantly expand its AI teams by 2025.

Don’t miss the breakthrough.
A few days ago, OpenAI, SoftBank Group, and Oracle announced a $100 billion joint venture to build data centres and AI infrastructure in the United States.

Last summer, Meta CEO Zuckerberg said his company and competitors might be spending too much on artificial intelligence. But the risk of losing a few billion doesn’t outweigh the risk of missing a significant breakthrough in computing power.
