President Donald Trump has signed a presidential directive to rid the armed forces of “the transgender ideology”. He has previously announced that he no longer wants transgender people in the army.
According to him, the armed forces are “infected with a radical gender ideology to satisfy activists”. He believes “many mental and physical conditions are incompatible with military service”.
According to Trump’s presidential directive for the federal government, military personnel must first and foremost be disciplined in their personal lives. “A man’s claim that he is a woman and then wants others to respect this untruth is contrary to the humility and self-sacrifice of a member of the armed forces,” Trump said.
The presidential directives are directed at the federal government and, unless legally challenged, are implemented by those governments.
