Negotiations With Ukraine Have Stalled, Lavrov Says

According to the Russian side, the peace negotiations between the warring parties in Ukraine have “stalled”. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said this after a conversation with his Kazakh counterpart.

According to Lavrov, Moscow has still not received a reply from Kyiv to the latest proposal five days ago. Vladimir Medinsky, the Russian negotiator, also told Reuters news agency that the delegations had “several long talks” on Friday. But he didn’t comment on how those conversations had gone.

According to Vladimir Putin, Ukraine is unwilling to seek mutually acceptable solutions, and Kyiv is inconsistent in the negotiations.

According to the Kremlin, he would have communicated this to Charles Michel, the chairman of the EU heads of government council. Instead, during a telephone conversation with Putin, he called for a ‘humanitarian’ ceasefire during Orthodox Easter.

Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky said he had not previously seen a Russian proposal.
